Legal & App Limitations

Know what Enkidu’s information can—and cannot—tell you.

Enkidu is an independent, free macOS companion for Codex usage awareness. It is decision support. You remain in control of your work and model choices.

Usage readings have a timestamp

A verified reading means Enkidu successfully received and validated usage information from Codex. It does not mean an independent audit of OpenAI’s billing or quota calculations. Readings can be rounded or delayed. A saved or stale reading is historical information; use Sync Usage and consult Codex before relying on it.

Allowance is not a cash balance

The displayed percentage represents the selected Codex allowance window. It does not represent money, API credits, a guaranteed number of messages or tasks, or a fixed number of tokens. Enkidu cannot add capacity, bypass limits, or control reset timing.

Estimates are not promises

Pace, time remaining, model advice, and planning comparisons can change with the work, model, reasoning level, service rules, and other activity on your account. They do not guarantee cost savings, productivity, accuracy, uninterrupted access, or task completion. A user-set budget is a plan, not a limit enforced on Codex.

You choose the next action

Enkidu does not automatically switch your model, perform your work, or approve consequential actions. Review AI outputs and maintain appropriate backups. Do not rely on Enkidu as your sole safeguard for financial, legal, medical, safety-critical, or deadline-sensitive decisions.

Beta and compatibility limits

Build 41 is beta software for direct macOS distribution. Codex, macOS, account eligibility, and model availability may change. Sync and optional integration features may become unavailable or require an update. Widgets and saved history are not second-by-second monitoring.

Independent product

Enkidu is created by Hanmin Yun. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by OpenAI or Apple. Codex and ChatGPT are OpenAI product names; Apple and macOS belong to Apple. References identify compatibility only. Developer ID signing and Apple notarization do not constitute Mac App Store approval, an endorsement, or a guarantee that software is error-free.

Website demonstrations

Interactive examples use illustrative values to explain the product. They are not connected to your Codex account and do not show your live allowance. Screens and available features may differ by version, account, settings, and time. Demonstration scores are not measured savings or performance benchmarks.

Free access

Enkidu is provided free, without in-app purchases or a premium feature tier. A compatible Codex installation and any required ChatGPT subscription are separate. Downloading Enkidu does not provide or pay for third-party services.

Liability and your legal rights

The Terms of Service describe applicable warranty and liability limits. Those limits apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not remove mandatory consumer rights or remedies. Nothing on this page guarantees that a limitation will apply in every jurisdiction or circumstance.
