Privacy Policy

Your usage history belongs on your Mac. The website has its own data practices.

Enkidu does not read your prompts, conversations, project files, browser cookies, or passwords to check usage. It does not upload your usage history to an Enkidu server or use it for advertising.

1. Who is responsible

Hanmin Yun, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, provides Enkidu and the Enkidu pages of this website. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or help removing local data, email snap.memoryun@gmail.com. This policy covers Enkidu and Enkidu-related website interactions; other products may have separate policies.

2. Information used by the Mac app

Enkidu requests usage allowances, reset timing, available models, and supported account token-activity totals through OpenAI's Codex connection interface. The direct-download edition uses the existing Codex sign-in on your Mac. The Mac App Store edition requires its own official sign-in and includes an OpenAI connection component that manages authentication credentials in the app's protected local storage so you can remain signed in. Enkidu does not copy credentials from your other Codex installation or read your browser cookies or password to obtain usage information. Its usage-history and reporting stores retain normalized feature information, not raw account responses, email addresses, account IDs, access tokens, refresh tokens, or other authentication credentials. Credential storage managed by the bundled connection component is separate from those history and reporting stores.

Saved local information can include verified usage percentages and timestamps, allowance names, reset times, reading freshness, usage history, settings, generic work profiles, budgets, sanitized report events, and a limited widget summary. This supports the menu-bar reading, history, pace guidance, reports, model advice, and preferences.

3. Optional Codex integration

The optional Codex plugin described in this section belongs to the direct-download edition. The Mac App Store edition does not install or use that plugin's task-activity signals, task-linking actions, or shared summaries. Both editions can provide usage visibility without receiving prompt or project content.

The optional integration can communicate local activity states such as working, waiting, or finished. Model guidance uses generic categories and yes/no capability flags; Enkidu does not receive the prompt or project content behind them.

Task linking is separate from installation. A short summary or milestones may be shared only through an explicit user-approved action. Such approved information is an exception to the app’s otherwise generic planning data. Avoid including confidential information. Temporary local references may be used to connect an approved task; they are not used as advertising identifiers.

4. Where app data goes

Enkidu stores its settings and saved readings locally in your macOS user account. The inspected build does not operate an Enkidu cloud-sync, advertising, or analytics service. We do not sell app data or use it for cross-app tracking. Files are validated and access is limited to your user account where supported by the filesystem.

Official sign-in and fresh usage checks communicate with OpenAI. For the Mac App Store edition, the bundled connection component performs those requests from within the app's sandbox. OpenAI handles its service data under its own Privacy Policy. macOS features, including notifications and widgets, are also subject to Apple’s platform practices. No software or device can guarantee absolute security.

5. Website visits and cookies

This website is hosted by Squarespace. Hosting and security services process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and referring pages to deliver and protect the site. Website features may use necessary cookies or similar storage. Squarespace analytics and third-party features can involve additional information and non-essential cookies, depending on the site settings and your choices.

These website practices are separate from the Enkidu app. Read the Cookie Policy for website storage and controls, and Squarespace’s Privacy Policy for its processing. Following an external link takes you to a service with its own practices.

6. Information you send us

If you email us or submit a website form, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send. We use that information to respond, provide support, maintain relevant records, and meet legal obligations. Email and hosting providers process it to deliver those services. Do not include passwords, tokens, or sensitive project material. We do not automatically receive your local Enkidu history when you ask for support.

7. Retention and deletion

Local history is bounded by the app’s storage limits; settings and other saved information may remain until removed. Quitting and deleting Enkidu.app does not necessarily remove preferences, Application Support data, or widget data. You can contact us for help identifying Enkidu’s local data before deleting it. Your own device backups may retain earlier copies. For the Mac App Store edition, locally stored sign-in information managed by the connection component may also remain in protected app storage after the app is removed. Contact us for guidance before deleting app data. Deleting Enkidu's local data does not delete your OpenAI account or information held by OpenAI.

Support and website records are kept for the purposes described above and for any required legal retention period. We remove or anonymize personal information when it is no longer needed, subject to lawful retention requirements. Service providers may retain their own security and operational records under their policies.

8. Choices and privacy rights

You control optional notifications, launch at login, integration features, and whether to share a summary. You can stop fresh app checks by quitting Enkidu. Browser settings can manage website cookies, though blocking necessary storage can affect site functions.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent for personal information we control. Contact us using the email above. We may need proportionate verification of your identity, and legal exceptions may apply. We cannot access or delete local app files on your Mac remotely. You may also contact the relevant privacy regulator, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. International processing and changes

Website and email providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate, under local laws. Enkidu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly solicit their personal information.

We will update this policy when practices change and identify the effective date. We will provide additional notice or seek consent where required for material changes.
